Mike and Susan Gartland’s four daughters, ages 17, 14, 10 and 9, had been sharing one of their home’s two second floor bedrooms. Mike Gartland has been disabled for some time and cannot climb stairs.. Now, two of the girls can move into the bedroom which had belonged to Mike and Susan. OOR Huntingdon’s Masonry CReW has built a 30' x 30' addition to the house.

The Project

The new one-story addition includes a bedroom, bathroom, laundry room and closet. The OOR CReW completed all aspects of the project, except the excavation and electrical hook-up. They did the concrete floor, interior and exterior walls, roof, siding, windows, doors, insulation and dry wall. Two inmate trainees put on the finishing touches, supervised by Danny Noye, Instructor Aide.

"This is quite a project," said Instructor Richard Cassatt. "It’s the first new construction that this crew has had. It gives them a chance to work on all phases."
