From Christmas Past....

In July 1996, OOR Greensburg went to the Westmoreland Fairgrounds to begin construction on the first permanent building at Overly’s Country Christmas. This building would become the new gift shop for the 1997 season.

At left, Dave Zik’s crew dug the footers for the 2200 square foot structure and helped lay the foundation block.
At right, the completed building. At that time, OOR had both a Carpentry and Masonry crew at SCI Greensburg. During the summer and winter of 1996, either crew was there every day. Bill Kalp was the Masonry crew instructor.

Teenagers from the Juvenile Probation Center later planted shrubs donated by Wilkinson’s Nursery. Old fashioned style signs for the three parapet walls were erected.
