Asperger Symptoms
Asperger’s syndrome is characterized by social abilities and social demonstrations. The lack of empathy is characteristic that is often noted. Those with Asperger’s often have difficulty making friends due to their socially awkward natures. Physical symptoms include impairment in nonverbal behavior, off facial expressions, hunched posture, odd gesturing, and lack of eye contact. Despite these characteristics, sufferers are not withdrawn, though they may be quiet.
Normally those who suffer from Asperger’s can lead relatively normal lives, as they become dedicated to aspects of their interest. Professions often do not include areas were social interaction is of high demand. Chosen professions are often repetitive and restrictive. Because of social awkwardness, an individual with Asperger’s may have a one-sided conversation with someone without noticing that the other person has not spoken. Though they are often empathetic, sufferers are not insensitive, the opposite of popular belief.
A common characteristic of Asperger’s is mixing up social norms. For instance an individual will think he or she is acting the same as everyone around him or her, but instead his or her attempting to defeat symptoms results in forced eye contact and body gesturing. Similar aspects are sometimes profound in verbalization, including rhythm, tone, volume, and pitch.
